America's Heart
Though steel and concrete will collapse
Our Hearts will never bow,
To the wrenching terror, grief, and strife
That plagues our nation now.

Buildings fell and fire rained
Upon our blood-bought soil,
Giving hearts have lost their lives
In the midst of toil.

Hate may burn and seethe within
But our next steps must be light,
For vengeance could bring down on Earth
An endless, starless night.

One nation under God we stand
United forever as one,
We now know the sorrow God felt
As we killed His only Son.

Freedom found nowhere else
Now trapped below the knife,
Will we live in fear and doubt?
Or grow beyond the strife.

By steel and concrete cages held
Our brothers now must wait,
For a chance to see the sun
Or have they met their fate?

America must knock down the cage
That holds the nation's heart,
Must not bow to the terror
Brought to us from the start.

Steel and concrete all will crumble
My face and yours will fade,
But America's Heart will live on
Past this day of pain.
