Sparkling dew in morning grass, like hidden diamonds, crystal glass Sunlight spreading glorious peace, sprit rising with the breeze; I have diamonds, could have more, to lock inside a safety drawer And crystal glass in which to pour, red wine to some snobbish bore: . Who does not see the morning dew,or understand why I would choose, Not karat on neck, fingers round, but carrots sprouting from the ground: Not pockets lined with man made gold, that takes my time consumes my soul, But pockets filled with nuts and seeds, for scampering squirrel and bluebird feed: . Sweet nectar in my crystal glass, for hummingbirds that flutter past And as I watch them sip and soar, a lizzard scurries past my toes; A gray squirrel comes from woods nearby, comes carefully close to my side Just four feet out lies acorns sweet, that he will eat while watching me: . And I watch him consume his treats, time not affecting him,nor me Some would say It's wasted time, not productive, too confined; But I would say come sit with me, to watch the bluebirds, hummers, bees Squirrels and lizzards, deer in trees, forgetting time to simply be; . Life's not about what you own, how hard you work, muscle tone Life's about peace within, Love, Laughter, Tears and Grins; About teaching children how to Love, important traits to be proud of Take each moment as it is, take the time to simply live; . This is me,and who i am,and many do not understand For when they ask me what I do? I smile and say..........I watch the dew. BY: Bobby Smith copyright 1996(first collection) |
